In my experience, this is a great lens but it's very important to stop it down for best results. In that regard, you can get the F3.5 version and get just as good results (it's smaller too).

I'm not sure if it's the same lens, but mine is the Nikkor-Q 135mm 2.8 non-Ai.

Love this lens but it's too heavy and the focus ring is quite stiff sometimes. Thinking of selling it but I'm afraid I will regret I won't have this kind of images anymore.
