Some of you have probably seen these pictures, but I think the lens deserved its own thread. Not a lot of people seem to have posted pictures with it online.

Tremendous !
What body were you using for these images ?
With the Panasonic G85. It's easy to focus with the focus peaking as long as animals don't move too much.

Apparently someone spotted 2 bald eagles close to where I live, that's my next mission!

Great captures. I almost picked one of these up a little while back but I am holding out for a good copy of the Canon FD 400mm f2.8. The main reason is I want to use it with a speed booster to get basically 600mm at f2.0 for early morning low light shooting.

Yes I had to get this copy since it was practically in mint condition at a very low price within my budget. That canon lens looks like a mini telescope!

There was/is an EX condition one at KEH for $1400. I was thinking the same thing, but not in the budget atm

One of the few fast telephotos I never used. It had a very good reputation in the film era and I thought it would make a nice compact and light telephoto on 4/3.

The Canon FD 500mm f/4.5 would be another contender if you could find a nice copy.

It's so heavy though, but all fast telephoto lenses are. It's still a nice piece of equipment for a beginner like me to explore and learn about wildlife photography. Not autofocus of course, but it really helps me learn this aspect of photography.

It's all relative. I had two 600mm f/5.6 lenses converted to OM mount (at different times). I borrowed a 800mm f/5.6 when I was considering switching to an 800mm but after two days it was obvious it was more than I was prepared to haul around the countryside.

I still haul my OM 350mm around. I was ready to buy the 300mm f/2.8 twice before deciding I would miss the extra reach and there wasn't much of a size or weight saving for losing 50mm.

I received my 2x teleconverter. So now my 400mm is a 800mm f/7 (1600mm with the 2x crop). Handheld!
