    The city of Mesolonghi is referred as "The Holy City" because a huge massacre took place there during the greek revolution of 1821 against the Turks. The city is buit at the edge of a big lagoon and close to the shores there are built some fishermen huts, known as "pelades".

    Nowadays most of these huts are renovated and are used as cottages.
