Hi,

Several years ago I purchased an Olympus E-500 along with a few lenses. Over the years, as my kids grew and we traveled extensively, I used to camera 100% in 'Auto' mode or the 'settings' for action/sport, etc. The camera has been tucked away since 2017 and is in phenomenal shape. With this COVID pandemic I really want to take the time to learn about the camera. I am trying to figure out the 'manual' use of it so I can take night time pictures. Trying to get a shot of the comet before it is gone. As a newbie to cameras and to camera jargon I was hoping to ask this community - Where can I learn the in's and out's of this camera? Especially with video tutorials or some good instruction? I have been all over You Tube, Google, etc. and I am still having a hard time to understand what I would think are the basics, i.e. aperture, shutter, etc. I am comfortable in saying I need a basics tutorial just to start. Does anyone have good sites, videos, other forums, etc. I could be point to?

Thank you in advance.

Will also get you on your way.

All the best. Your E-500 might be ancient in technological terms, but it, and its kit lenses, will still take excellent photos.

The E-500 is not the best for low light work ...

This is great. Thank you so much. I noted you are in Melbourne. I worked and lived in Sydney for several years and traveled all over Australia. My favorite country I have ever visited.

Several and a half years ago I used my E-500 extensively for astro photography. Looking back now, I don't know how I managed.
The biggest difficulty is manual focusing on a star, and as I recall I had a "vari-magnify" viewer that clipped onto the eyepiece.
