Anybody have the patience to deal with a newbie's dopey questions?
Please remember I am a vintage SLR film user till now...so this is all new to me--lol/

I bought 2 Lumix G1. One for me and one for my wife as a Christmas present.
Just got an adaptor in the mail today.
    Read the owners manual...pretty much.
Tell me does Panasonic ship these without a memory card?
And does that mean I need to buy memory cards for each before they can be used?
Am I off to Wal Mart to buy 2 memory cards...and if so How much is the appro. cost?
And what kind and size should I buy?
I feel like such a dope.

    thanks
    Bob

    hi,
no, memory cards are not included.
since you don`t have video, a "class 4" card is fast enough. ask for SDHC.

    cheers.

Can't believe they ship without any kind of memory card--totally un-useable.
Good thing I checked one out or it would be been a bummer on christmas day.

OK I need 2 class 4 cards...anything else I need to tell them at WM

    thanks

"do NOT get the micro SDHC."

You will find that shipping w/o memory cards is pretty standard for most cameras, unless the seller has a bundling deal going on.

Film cameras did not ship with film, either.

Digital cameras sometimes shipped with memory cards many years ago but their capacity was so small as to render them virtually useless, so perhaps better to have to get something of a decent capacity, these days memory is much cheaper than it used to be.

Just wondering if they shipped out the old SLR's with film included?

Well that mission has been accomplished.
Not that long ago digital P&S came with a small
    memory card as grebeman said......
so I expected a small useable memory with the camera.
But OK....I suppose Panasonic could not get another $10. for their
camera if they included a 4GB card with it. Hmmm.
well, anyway thanks for the info folks I think we are moving in the right direction now.

    many thanks

I use 8GB Class 10 Patriot cards, they run $20 IIRC and I haven't had any speed issues with video.
