My Photo Ramblings: September 11 New York Remembers

Proudly shot with a Lumix G1. There will never be another shot like this. The cross will no longer be standing there.

I invite everyone to add their images related to September 11. Old or new.

  3. Wonderful that you could shoot the cross while it was still standing there. I heard it will go to the museum now.

Thanks for the photos Hera and Bill. I have no photos to contribute. I haven't set my foot in NY since Jan. 2001. But I still remember everything that I did in the morning of 9/11 as if it was yesterday.

I read about the cross getting removed. Sigh.

  10. What an amazing shot John... Thanks for sharing.

The cross will go to the museum they will open up about the day. I fell in love with it against the tall buildings. It was so graphic.

I have seen the cross on the news before and in pictures.

What is the story behind it? Was it part of the foundations of one of the towers?

  12. The cross-shaped steel beams were found in the rubble at the site of the World Trade Center following the 9/11 attacks.

Photographs, much more than the written word, help us never to forget.

FWIW, I was at Liberty State Park in Jersey City today (across the river from the World Trade Center). I visited Empty Sky a tribute to the New Jerseyans that lost their lives that day. Here's a link to a Flickr slideshow

Nice Pictures Everyone! Just wanna say that i give you all credit for going into the city on 9-11, i was going to go myself but i couldnt afford the round trip train ticket and subway/bus fair, as a college student. I could imagine how tight ( space wise ) it was there yesterday, and how even harder it must have been to take a photo due to everyone trying to do the same.
