WOW! Great Photos guys! I am just having the first chance to process my photos and am about to start copying them to my hard drive. I'll post some soon.

It was great meeting and walking with fellow Mu4/3ers Tom, Steven and Gus and my friend Leanne who came along too! We picked up another photographer friend coming in from Europe in the afternoon and didn't get home until after 11PM.

I'll get our group shot from Leanne tonight and post that too. I'm still waiting for that.....

Great, Lisa! Love the fisheye shots... I have almost the same shot of Gus...but the DOF was so narrow most of his face was out of focus. You got a good one.

Oh, and I remember the couple whose feet you shot...the rest of the shot would have been PG-13 - as they walked down the middle of the street!

Great shots there Lisa! What is the effect used on the hooded orange guy from behind? that's very cool and gives some idea of the disorienting feeling it must be to be forced to wear that.
I also like the church doors fisheye and the lovers legs :) the trees forming a gate over the street are great. I don't remember passing them. or maybe I just missed it. I do remember you taking that fisheye shot of the bus stop. Turned out great!

I love going on photo walks, everyone sees the same thing yet we all photograph it differently! I like seeing all the variations from wide shot to closeups.

Steven-talk about urban decay, that subway station WOW! The Empire State building through the arch is cool as is the red ribbon, as are many faces you have in the set.

Gus-I am getting an error on the M4/3 site on some of your images but I looked at them on flickr. Candles are cool and is the Empire State Building and the Asian statues (that I have a photo of you taking that photo).

Tom-You caught some lovely expressions on many of your subjects. I especially like your subway shots with the Kevin Kostner Cowboy Ad!

I'm still waiting for Leanne to send me our group shot....Still waiting today.

Steven-The shot of the hooded man from behind I used Alien Skin Bokeh2 to throw the background out of focus, I had too much depth of field.

Some stellar shots!! Well done all! I live in NYC and never grow tired of seeing walkabout/street photos.

Was the camera in the first set of photos above set to Vivid-type mode? The color in some of the photos look very saturated...?

Also - Tom - what kind/brand strap do you have? I've been in the market for one like that and looking for a recommendation.

I shot JPEG standard and just processed the photos like that in Lightroom bumping everything up. it's easy to get carried away later :)
I believe Tom's strap was DIY.

:bravo-009::bravo-009::bravo-009:Steven - I am not sure what it is. Your eye for photography, your camera, or your PP skills, but after seeing these pictures you posted, I will never ever pay attention to another one of those winy posts about cameras or lenses, like how "that" kit lens is no good or how much better the OMD is than the GX1 or G3 or GH2.

You just proved all of them wrong.

Amazing shots, please post your work as often as you take them. You are an inspiration.

Thank you!

Those pictures are so clean and clear. I can't look at them enough. :bravo-009::bravo-009::bravo-009:

Sincerely

Thomas

I would have LOVED to have joined you folks! Great work from all of you - I'm really enjoying it and getting jealous looking at it - but mostly enjoying it. After my recent month there, I actually feel like I sort of know the place and I definitely love the place and will enjoy every future visit just that much more. Although I wasn't with you, I spent a LOT of time around Washington Square and the Village while I was there and I can't resist adding ONE shot that's almost the identical vantage point as one of Lisa's, but I got some (presumably) NYU kids in the shot instead of the fountain and it was late April so the flowers were still in full bloom. But when I saw hers I thought "I've stood RIGHT there"!

I'm so glad you folks got together on this and are sharing the results here. it's a real pleasure to walk along with you from a distance.

The contrast in these is amazing. This set has many that I need to spend more time with. Excellent, thanks for sharing them.

Hi,

Steven is correct: DIY. Webbing is from any good outdoor sports store: EMS, REI, etc. I prefer 1/2", but you may want something wider. The swivel clip is stainless from the hardware store. I use a short piece of parachute cord (also from outdoor sports store) to attach to camera lug and clip (long enough to keep clip away from camera). Total cost about $5.

Basic concept is 'quick draw', with clip easily sliding up webbing from waist level.

I've gotta say, what a great set of photos from everyone. It's also an interesting perspective when several folks walk together and end up with different results. Fantastic job to all.

Very creative Tom. You better watch out, Black Rapid may sue you:mad:. It seems the are suing every manufacturer that makes alternative straps. I like their straps but not their legalese.
