This has been going on this week. If I click on a notification, or go to a new post, the page opens near the top of the thread, not to the new post or the post associated with the notification.

This occurs on both my Mac and iPhone using Safari.

I have also noticed this. In my case on an Android phone using Chrome.

I am on a Mac using Firefox 45.0.1 and does seem to be working pretty well for me; occaisionaly I get taken to the last post in the thread and have to scroll back a few posts but that is about it. Maybe it is a Safari issue?

@MattW@MattW - Have you seen this happening on any other boards with the latest updates?

It is not just a Safari issue. I see the same problem in Chrome on Android, Chrome on Windows 10, and Edge on Windows 10. I am certain it has started happening quite recently - until now links always took me to a predictable location within a thread, now I land on a random-seeming post and have to scroll down to try to figure out which post I should be looking at.

For example, just now in Chrome on Windows 10, I clicked on an alert pointing to one of my own posts with this URL:
    Code:
    https://www.mu-43.com/posts/879761/
The URL that shows in the browser address bar is:
    Code:
    https://www.mu-43.com/threads/olympus-9mm-f-8-fisheye-body-cap-lens.59455/page-10#post-879761
This is the right page, but the specific post that opens is number 857357. This is about 8 posts above my post 879761.

    I am looking into this.

@alan1972@alan1972 and @rmcnelly@rmcnelly - which site style are you using, light or dark?

It's happening to me, too. I am on a Mac using light style on Safari (both desktop and iOS).

I did a lot of updates recently. Trying to figure out which one did this.

I guess I am using the light style - I see mostly white background. I can try testing it with dark if you think it might be relevant but I am not sure where to choose the site style?

In the lower left corner of the page in the dark blue bar it will say the style - click on it for the Style Chooser.

@WendyK@WendyK - thanks for that, I see it now.

@Amin Sabet@Amin Sabet - I have now tried with both light and dark style, the behaviour is the same with both.

    Amin,

Regarding what he says about the page loading before pictures are rendered, I know what he's talking about and I have experienced that, but that is more or less "normal." The recent behavior is different. It seems like clicking to go to the first unread post is taking me to what would have been the first unread post in a thread one or two visits ago. It is as if it has no record of my most recent visits.

Seems to be affecting a lot of members on both Mac + PC, iOS + Android, across a variety of browsers. I am working on it.

I think it might be. I can't say for sure whether there is a specific pattern to the "wrong" posts I land on, but it did also cross my mind that they often seem to be the "right" posts from an earlier visit.

By the way when I tested this in Edge earlier it was the first time I had ever visited the forum in Edge and I found the same issues, so I don't think it is a caching issue.
