I have to say, coming from the E-P3 the controls on this one look pretty good or even better.

The new EVF is all wrong. Everything else is great.

Looks beautiful, and the controls look good too (cut above the PM and PL series). Real shame about the ludicrously sized EVF, which makes it a bit of a non-starter (at that point, get an E-M5 is my thinking). I'm more likely to buy a second E-M5 if the price difference is minimal.

Not sure I agree with this. Adding the VF makes the camera large and cumbersome regardless--it's not like you're going to put it in your pocket with that relatively fragile appendage attached. I see the appeal of an EP5 camera mostly to people who will use it without the VF 90% of the time (otherwise: buy an EM5!).

I'm still waiting for a PM2-sized camera with 5-axis IBIS. That would be my dream camera.

As an E-p3 user, I was looking to upgrade only to a new pen with integrated viewfinder. I would purchase the vf-4 for its the eye recognition feature (hoping it is compatible with my E-p3). Besides the bad video and the lack of integrated viewfinder the e-p3 feeds my digital photography needs and will keep it for long time.

And I'm very interested about this new mode. Is it "EVF + Super Panel" mode maybe? :)

One minor complaint. I think the on/off switch is reversed. I would prefer to push in for on, and fiddle it out for off. I want to be able to turn on a lot quicker than turn off, and pushing in is easier than pulling out that dial, at least from what I can see. Actual practice will determine the truth of the matter.

None of the MFT cameras are really all that pocketable to me anyway, and the E-Px series isn't much smaller than an E-M5.

If I want pocketable, I'll take my RX100.

Hmm, get the new E-P5 and keep my VF-2 or get the VF-4 and keep my E-PL5?

If it's backwards compatible with my VF-3, I'm probably in.

I hardly use the VF, but when I do, it's no big deal to push a button to turn it on. The new VF looks kinda large and clunky, although I'm sure it's a technical marvel. For me it's just a framing hole for adverse lighting.
