I recently noticed a Panasonic GF3 kit for sale on ShopGoodwill.com. Then I saw another which prompted me to look into it a bit at which point I noticed that there have been a total of 53 GF3 kits sold on ShopGoodwill.com in the past 6 months.

This volume along with the fact that NO other :43: cameras have been sold on the site through this timeframe suggests something more than a bunch of individuals deciding they no longer like their new GF3 but are too lazy to sell it on eBay. So I figure Panasonic (or a retailer) is dumping/writing-off unsold inventory. However, if that is the case you would think these would all be in one place, but the cameras are being sold from all over the US. In short, I can't explain this pattern. Any ideas?

If anyone is interested, there is one current auction. I'm not sure how good a deal it is, since these are all sold AS IS, no returns with no warranty (I presume) or even any assurance that they are in working order. The completed auctions have gone for between US$223 and US$326.

Wow! WTF is going on with Panasonic or rather how can they let they're goods end up on Goodwill. If I were Panasonic I'd buy them all quickly, find out who sold them the goods and shut them down.

This is not goodwill for Panasonic's public image. Besides who goes to goodwill looking to spend a few hundred dollars?

I saw a few Nikon 1s on Goodwill, thought about making a bid on them. A lot of the time, big chain stores will unload display models or returned merchandise they can't sell new and take a tax write off.

Yeah, I assume that's what's happening here. What I can't explain is why so many GF3's and NO other :43: kits?

GF3 doesn't have a hot shoe and doesn't look like a SLR, so it gets treated like a compact camera. Probably why I saw those Nikon 1s.

Also by donating rather than just selling at a loss, you get benefits in PR, in 2013, our company donated 2 million sounds better than out company wrote off 2 million off our assets.
