I just picked up a E-M1 at my local camera shop. I notice that when I half depress the shutter button to focus, I hear a hissing-like noise which sounds something like a motor running. It continues until a moment or so after completely depressing the button and taking the picture. I never really noticed this noise with my EM-5. I hear it regardless of which of my lenses I use. Is this a normal sound? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I believe this is the IBIS system. It was a bit weird the first time I've heard it. My friend's E-M5 does it as well.

Thanks for the response. You are right. When I turn off the IBIS I do not hear the sound any more. I just don't recall hearing it on my E-M5. I would check, but I sold it to buy the E-M1

I have both, and they make the same sound.

The em5 used to make the sound constantly when on before a firmware update. Now it does the same thing, it's on during half press and release then goes off. My em1 is quieter than my em5 was in my opinion.
