New mirrorless Leica system announced for 2012

    No sensor chosen, no details yet, but info forthcoming at Photokina 2012. British Journal of Photography has the story.
  2. I'd be pleasantly surprised even though I have major doubts.

    Leica has more than they can handle: X1, M9, S2 and their lenses. In fact, there is a major stock shortage for most of their M-lenses. If anything, it would be a rebranded Panasonic.

    Now wouldn't that be something... a m4/3 Leica body that is a rebranded Panasonic, in the same vein as the Leica Digilux 3/Panasonic Lumix L-1. Maybe this is the real successor to the Panny GF1, and maybe the rumored "bright zoom" lens is a m4/3 version of the Leica 14-50mm f/2.8-3.5 to be sold as a kit with this new body? Hmm...
