I am a new member here, and especially b/c I have been allowed to sell a few things, I wanted to be sure to start participating more in the forum whenever possible. Although I am from Colorado, I had the fortune to spend a few months in Chicago this past spring. I got there on St. Patrick's Day (when it was unusually hot for that time of year).

Either Olympus has issues with green or they did something to the river.

I did notice people dressed a little differently than they do here in the mountains.

The hot weather didn't last, and some days when I was out and about, it was so dreary that I took the oppty to experiment with some of the filters.

My camera was an E-PL2, which I just sold. Look forward to posting more when I get a replacement. Thanks for looking.

Excellent shots. And I like your idea of using filters on the "dreary" days. That'll help up here in the Pacific NW too!

I love the one with the threatening clouds.

Well, you know how Chicago was populated... a bunch of people in New York City said, "I really love the crime and the overcrowding here but it's not cold enough."

And that's why the river is green. You're welcome.

Argh. I just realized it is "Chase" Chicago now. I guess there are worse ways to market your brand...

Great Chicago shots! :bravo-009: St Paddy would be proud o' ye!

Especially nice to see how you avoided all the trite, overdone cliches. Chicago's a great city (my favorite!) with great photo opps that most people seem to miss.

A Few More Just for Fun

Hope it's not too many photos, but here are a few more just for fun.

They were taking Marilyn apart to move her to Reno (I think):

From the contemporary art museum. I love this, a painter who is unique among painters b/c he dispensed with paint. What?!?

I really don't use filters or gimmicky stuff, so I don't want to leave the wrong impression, but I liked this version of the train:

    Thanks again for looking.

    Deja Vu, again.

Liked your photos. I live here and must have been following you around, Scott.

Red Line, on my way to Cubs Game last April.
    E4110030.

    Macy's in 2011
    E4020074.

Osaka Gardens. Keep trying to get there when the cherry tree is in bloom.
    E3290247.

St. Pat's Parade 2012. Really nice this year, thanks to Global Warming. Tip. Always go to the start of a Chicago Parade. Don't have to fight with crowds on the sidewalks.
    E3170082.

Marilyn. Everyone wants a photo from this angle.

I hope there wasn't any alcohol. Newport, RI is always dry on St. Paddy's day. Liked the pics. Where do you live in CO?

Ha ha, so you were that guy who kept telling me to get out of the way b/c I was ruining his pictures. It is a great city for art, food, and music.
