Just placed an order with BH for my EP3 silver with kit zoom. Just figured i would say hello. Already looking to pick up a pancake looks like alot of posts are pointing towards the lumix 20mm 1.7.

I've got a silver ep3 with 17/20 pancakes. So spoiled by pancake sizes now :(
I'll have to "tolerate" the 12/45 with their ENORMOUSITYNESS when I get them. Hehehehe

    Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the user group! The Panasonic 20mm is fantastic, and it is on mu E-P3 a lot, but just a heads-up that it will focus more slowly than the kit, or the latest Panasonic and Olympus lenses. I still think it is a must have.

If you like wider angles, I also have the Panasonic 14mm is very sharp and even smaller than the 20mm.

As far as other focal length primes go, a lot of people around here are non-so-patiently awaiting the Olympus 45mm.

Its a shame that it will focus more slowly than the kit zoom. the 45 oly looks nice but no release date stilllll lol .

my other option is the OLY 17mm pancake . got to do some more home work on my pancakes before i pull the trigger . Thank you for your insight

The oly 17 and panny 20
And yes the panny 20 is a slower focussing lens. Sometimes it drives me bonkers. But I'd still buy it! :)

To be honest, the first time I noticed the 20mm was slower than the latest lenses, was when I was trying to chase my 3 year old nephew a few weeks ago. I would still buy the lens - it works great for me in street scenes, people shots, etc.

Welcome from a fellow Garden Stater. You've got a great little micro four-thirds kit already. We'll be eager to get your impressions going forward.
