You can now view the top rated (sum of likes, thanks, wows, and winners) posts from any thread or forum by clicking a "Top Rated" link at the top.

Here's an example of a link to the top rated posts in a given thread:

    top2.

Example of link to Top Rated posts in a forum:

    top1.

Give it a try, and let me know what you think!

Some members may notice that their overall Ratings count has dropped. This is because I fixed a longstanding bug where some of the old ratings were being counted twice.

Boy, do I like this feature! When I tried it on the thread "Plants: Bushes, Leaves, Fruit, Veggies, Herbs, et al," which I hardly ever view, it showed some remarkably beautiful images that I've never seen before.

    Thanks!

I think it will be useful for the photo sample type threads. For discussions, not so much.

Took me a minute to see it as the add that I see moved it a lot further down the page.

I am a member of far too many forums, and this one works the best of all of them. Especially for finding posts and general usability features that I have never seen before. Also little things like fonts, other forums like DPR have a font that displays so light on my PC I cannot really read it. Only thing I would better is a better grammer checker as I cannot spell correctly if my life depended on it.

    Regards

I guess so, mine dropped over a 1000. I guess you did "fix" it.

All the post thanks imported from the old forum software were being counted twice. If I had left it that way, the top rated posts would have been heavily skewed towards posts from 2014 and earlier.

Certainly most useful for photo samples, but there are a lot of discussions that wander endlessly and inside 10 pages of drivel exist a few actual helpful posts. So I think this feature will still be quite useful for some of the discussions.

Great Job Amin, I'm loving this feature. Great way to go thru and see the best posts out there especially in the showcase forums. :)

Wow that's pretty cool. Seeing some great stuff that I'd missed when they were first posted.

    This is fun!
How does one find their ratings count and what does it do?

Hi, quickest way is to click on your name on your post above; the pop-up will show it in bright green.

I don't think the total affects anything.

Maybe "winners" should carry a higher value than regular "likes"? Maybe 2x?

Well, as I understood it, adding a "like" to a post means that I like it, and adding a "winner" means that I really like it. So if the purpose of the "Top Rated" feature is to indicate popularity, it seems logical to me to give additional value to "winner" when computing the total for a given thread or forum.

But of course my logic might not be the same as your logic. :D
