I've noticed a lot of price drops on the E-M1 recently. Olympus is selling refurbished models at very attractive prices, the regular NIB E-M1s are on sale at decent savings plus online sellers and gray market sellers have really good prices.
Are we going to see an announcement of the E-M1 Mk.II (the "game changer") this Fall or will we have to wait until the E-M1 hits the 3 year mark?
Olympus has a lens sale on, too. I was surprised to see the 40-150 f2.8 included at $100 discount on the Olympus Canada website.

In the last 10 mo. dollar/yen has gone up 25%. These price changes could simply reflect these new currency values.

I should would like it to be Photokina in September 2015. But I would not bet on that.

The next Photokina isn't until September 2016, 15 months away.

Remember Simon, the leaker? He was indicating later 2016 but earlier if competition dictated. So, I guess we'll see. Also, September (2015) is when the (alleged) 2 year contract ends for the Panasonic sensor in the E-M1 that limits the video usage & maybe we might see upgraded video (frame rates etc) given to us in a firmware upgrade to boost the sales of the E-M1 for another year. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking. :cautious:

I wouldn't bet on it either since there is no Photokina in 2015. However my guess is there will be an announcement around September.

Maybe the Panasonic new lens announcements/releases will spur Olympus to push the new E-M1 forward. I can always hope.

I hope they come up with an upgrade before Christmas as the EM1 has a few quirks that can be improved upon .... Just an upgrade (em1n) with an EM2 in 2016

Well, it's all speculation - but truth be known for a flagship model the E-M1 is still fairly new in its life. I'd place my bets on the successor coming in 2016 - but it's only a guess.

You're hopin'! :D I really don't think they can afford to be doing that, production cost wise somehow, but then you never know. ;)

For new flagship E-M1 mk2 we need:

-- more phase detect focus points like 51 or more, and most important we need 19 or more cross type phase detect focus points, also if it can be faster af with swd lens via fw-update for lens or so..
    -- 2 mode for Hi-res mode:
1 normal for studio like E-M5mk2 have 8 shoots 50mp - static object ect..
2 fast for 1/60 - 1/100 shutter speed - 4 shoots 28-30mp - for normal use ( not for sport or runnig kids but for hand-held landscape shoots, portret, ect )
-- 3milion dot EVF viewfinder ( like on new Leica ) and big as on Fuji XT-1 ( 0.77x )
-- i would be nice if they could do some modes like auto panorama ( every phone have this and Sony ), and some more options for Auto HDR ( let alone choose the difference between EV-s )
-- new sensor, that would be nice BUT we need better low ISO or 80/50 iso and better DR, HI-iso is ok for 4/3 size - now we need much better DR on low or iso200, we dont need more mp just much better DR on base ISO

till they make at least 80% of this they should not even issue a new model because no one would buy for 1500 to 1800 € just a little upgrade on EM1 - present E-M1 is great camera and now for the excellente price ( 800-1000€ ) we dont need something that is just a little better, we need big upgrade - E-M1 was first tryout for 4/3 and it did good with fw3.0 now we need thoroughbred 4/3-micro43 flagship that will rule them all :) !!!

    OK I'm intrigued by this odd comment ;
I always thought the Leica's EVF was equal to the Olympus VF-2 (which fits) and the EVF on the E-M5 and E-M10,
i.e. a big step down from the E-M1's viewfinder.

your priorities are 'different' as these are all relatively unimportant to me ....

Imho - But than why use em1 for m43 lens ( you have em5 mk2 ) - em1 is mainly for 4/3 lens user because of PD-AF so if there will be major improvemant they should be in af on 4/3 lens, then at least cross type points, but more focus point - better tracking

Yap - if you dont have 4/3 lens i dont see why you would go for 500€ more expensive body ( i'am talking about price of new model E-M1 let say mk2 over lets say E-M5 mk2 - because now E-M1 is cheaper than E-M5 mk2 so is all mixed up with classes ATM )

Why are you comparing a camera that does not even exist yet ? How would you know what features the EM1 mk2 might have ? Compare the EM1 to the EM5 and you have a 500$ difference and there are plenty of differences to justify this! Massively better viewfinder. More focus points, faster startup etc ....

I hope they come out with one soon. Then I can get a E-M1 body at a great price, maybe even as low as $500.00. Now that would be SWEET! :2thumbs:

Em1 in australia currently comes with the battery grip for free. Id suggest that hints at a new model in the not-to-distant future?
