It would be better to change the Sharing Settings | Visibility Options on the file to either :-

1. Public on the Web or
2. Anyone with the Link

Then you don't have to request/grant permission every time.

Similar to anyone who has a DropBox account, if they put it in the Public Folder, anyone can download it.

I've put in a Request, for now ......:biggrin:

HTH.

Les.

Ok I fixed it. Sorry bout that, I was in a hurry when I set it up. Everyone should be able to DL by clicking on the link now.

That's a tricky one ... :)

In this version, I try to pull out the core shape of the tree and to contrast it against the background..

and the second version is the 'omg, what's shining it from above' version...

PP

Great idea for a thread. My PP skills are pretty poor and it is great to see other peoples ideas....

Great thread, excellent PP work so far.

I would love more info from those posting pictures...what software, what tools used, that sort of thing.

This looks like a fun challenge. Here are my PP attempts (that sounded dirty  ) with LR4.

First image with faux HDR...

Very interesting seeing all the different takes on it.

Here's my take:

Here's my take, I did 3 different styles of post-processing on these. Often if I'm not sure how I want a photo to look I will try a few different approaches to see if anything jumps out at me, which is what I did here.

First, the straight-ahead color rendition. I made too many adjustments to list here, but it included tone curve, clarity, exposure, a bit of adjustment on green channel hue/saturation, selective adjustment to darken and add contrast to the leaf litter, sharpening, and just a touch of vignetting to pull more focus to the center.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/30940068@N02/8288543647/" title="PP Challenge #1 - Color by jloden, on Flickr"> View attachment 247055 "601" height="800" alt="PP Challenge #1 - Color"></a>

Here's a B&W rendition, done in Silver Efex with a slight modification off the default preset with a bit more grain, and a few minor adjustments on contrast brightness and structure. Also added a touch of vignetting.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/30940068@N02/8289604082/" title="PP Challenge #1 - B&amp;W by jloden, on Flickr"> View attachment 247056 "601" height="800" alt="PP Challenge #1 - B&amp;W"></a>

Last is taking the color version into Color Efex and applying a Bleach Bypass preset I use. This is the most common reason for me to use Color Efex, when I want a desaturated bleach bypass look I tend to use this preset. I bumped the saturation and contrast up a bit more than the default to give it a teeny bit more life and color.

I saw this tree as sort of a dark and brooding old thing, so I lowered the contrast, pulled the highlights way down, added some fog, did some burning and dodging and added a light vignette, and voila:

Wow, I really like some of the work Ive seen so far. I think I will make a judgement 24 hrs from now. I will pick three final images and mention how I came to choose them. The ultimate winner of the challenge will then be able to submit a new file for a new challenge or ask someone else (runners up). Great work so far!
