New Canon lens patent

    On reading the actual patent it appears the back focus goes as low as 5.4mm at the long end, however hopefully more companies make cameras for the sensor size as it can spur further development of sensors(by canon or sony, who cares... competition is good).

    It's an interesting design, to maintain infinity focus while keeping the lens compact as you "zoom" the lens to longer focal lengths it moves closer to the sensor. Highly varifocal no doubt, however still interesting in how compact a design can be made.

    Look more likely to be the lens on the G1X mark2, in answer to the LX100.

    The mark II (2) has a far greater focal length range (12.5 to 62.5), rather than the 12-35 of the patent. It could be the successor though, mark three perhaps?
