“They were also asked about their thoughts on specific hypothetical lenses, they were told these lenses don’t exist nor is Sony working on them," the source indicated, "but the marketing team wanted to know what they had to say assuming such lenses existed. These imaginary lenses were described in the questionnaire as an APS-C 23.5mm f/1.8 OSS and an APS-C 18.5mm f/1.8 OSS.”

I'm sure Sony users would love some $300 wide angle fast primes to join the quite-good 35/1.8 and 50/1.8 they've already got. But I suspect that offering a full-line up of affordable fast lenses would significantly diminish interest in the A7 series.

The A6300 already outputs much better 4K quality than the A7r II, and possibly even the A7s II, both of which cost $2000 more than it. So it's no surprise that Sony isn't rushing in to fill that niche.

Yes I read that. I am not sure I believe the "nor is Sony working on them".

Yes that was what I have been thinking. A fully supported A6300 is a capable A7II competitor, and not interesting to support.
