For the next 72 hour challenge, I have decided on the topic of:

    Faceless Portraits

The idea comes from one of the flickr groups I am a part of in which the subject should have it's face concealed or partially concealed.

(rules copied from previous challenge thread)
    The rules are as follows/

As the title suggests, each challenge lasts for 72-Hours. Everyone gets to submit 2 photos in line with the chosen theme. The winner of the previous challenge gets to choose the new theme (topics can be anything under the sun) and serves as the judge for his/her 72-hour challenge.

For obvious purposes, the judge is disqualified from participating in his/her own 72-hour challenge. Instead, he/she should post up to 2 photos as examples to start out the challenge. Should the winner not be able to commit to being the next judge, the responsibility is passed on to the runner-up.

At the end of the 72-hours (we don't have to be strict about 72-hours, especially with time differences depending on where you are on the globe), the judge will name a golden ribbon winner, a runner-up, and 1 honorable mention. As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. We may not all agree with the chosen winners; the judge is encouraged (but not required) to state what criteria he used to decide on a winner.

To make sure we don't break any Mu43 rules/regulations, by participating in this thread you are allowing the judge to repost your image for the sole purpose of announcing the winners for "Your Best Shot: Faceless Portrait challenge."
And finally I am not allowed to post pics for the purpose of participation in contest but I am going to post two pics as an examples .
    So here we go .

    K, I'll go first. Here's my lovely daughter, in a not-so-lovely mood...

I can't quite decide if this counts as a portrait. The original intended audiences know exactly who's depicted, so perhaps it does.

If anyone is interested it's taken with an 135mm manual focus OM lense

    Here's my entries.

First one is a shot of my friend Alexander Yerks, a man of many talents. He's a pro-photographer part of the time and the rest of the time he carves full time, making wooden cups, utensils, bowls and other items all using only the most basic hand tools: axe, knife, adze and gouges. This is a shot from a recent canoe journey of him sitting fireside and carving a quick spoon/spatula to cook with. After doing this so many times his speed is unreal, and I've seen him turn out a finished wooden spoon from a log in just a couple of hours while sitting fireside.

Next up is one of my favorite shots of our Dachshund doing his favorite thing - staying warm and cozy while keeping an eye on his family.

I'm travelling for the rest of the week without access to my camera or most of my photos, so I'll have to make do with what I've got at hand:
