Have an Olympus OMD and own the following lens which I have traded wheeled and dealed..Oly 12-50, Oly 14-150, Oly 45, Oly 75, Pany 20, Pany 14.
I am not willing to part with the 45,75 or 20, but was thinking of getting rid of the others and investing in the Pany 12-35...
I moslyt shoot kids (action & portrait) and like doing faces on trips, or markets etc. Street scenes also appeal..
    Thought from the crowd.
P.S. Anyone think it is necessary to own a long zoom, if so what do you recommend?
    Thanks in advance!!!

How often do you find yourself using either of the two zooms beyond 35mm/70mmFF effective?

I have shot that distance some in the past as I might have been too far to get close...sometime am in a sticky situation where being closer is not an option

I got a 12-35 a couple of months ago and it has been on my OMD for at least 75% of the time. It's just a fantastic lens. I tried the 12-50 but the IQ and the fact that it's just so dim didn't do it for me. By comparison the 12-35 is night and day. The only thing I'd like to improve would be to make it a bit longer at the tele end - say 50 or 60. But then it would be bigger, and there's always the 35-100 to lust over!

As regards your proposed lenses to sell - well, there's certainly the question to ask about whether you need something longer than 75mm, but from my POV, I'd say do it. I've never liked super zooms (14-140), find the 12-50 to be sub-par, and although the 14 is small and light, I bought and sold a used one, having never really taken to it.

As regards a long zoom, there's only really the O75-300 or P100-300 . I have the 100-300 and it's OK. Not in the class as the 12-35 in IQ, but it does a turn when a long lens is needed. I wish there was a better long zoom in the u43 lineup - something like a 100-250 f4 and with excellent IQ.
