I thought I'd try digikam as Aperture is very slow on my aging Macbook Pro (2GHz Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo, 2 GB ram). I used Macports to download and install everything and tried to run it.

What happens is it starts bouncing in the dock then it is joined by drkonqi bouncing away. Then they both "quit unexpectedly" I get the Mac OS crash reporter saying that drkonqi quit unexpectedly.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to proceed?

Uh oh... seems there's a problem with marble on Mac Os X :

digikam-users- digikam, MacOS X, MacPorts and KDE and... carsh on stratup

If you've already installed digikam by compiling it, you just need to check out marble and compile it otherwise, it's in kdeedu package (don't know if it's prepackaged for Mac OS X though).

    I'm sorry i can't help you further, as i don't have a Mac.

If you are still have aperture, up the ram to 8gb for 80 dollars, and it should run better on you macbook.

    Thanks for the quick replies.

    I'll look into this

This machine is maxed out at 2GB, and doesn't have the powerful graphics processors of newer Macbooks/Macbook Pros
