    'Some Sigma DP2 Shots'

First off a disclaimer....I'm just an amateur with no visions of grandeur....
That being said....Yep, the Sigma DP2 is quirky & also has flaws.... But at ISO 50-100, that Foveon is sweeeeeet

LOVE those colors. Did you use Sigma Photo Pro software to process these images or something else?

Interesting that you say this because my DP2 always sits in my car....

BTW, did I tell you that base ISO is 50 on this?

Hahaha U didn't tell me.. anyway I was tossing between this and canon G1X .I was also wondering when Sigma DP Merrill will be available . I won't need video actually . I am thinking of selling my PL 25 mm lens and buy this camera. It will weight almost same as the lens .Occupy same space , I won't have to swap lenses all the time. My beloved Oly 45 mm 1.8 can live happily on my OLy OMD for ever . I can easily slide Panny 14mm 2.5 into my pocket and we can live happily there after ..hahha
I wish if Oly and Panny could use Fovean sensor in their cameras.
    Cheers

Please tell me it sits in your car because you use it all the time and you want it at the ready. I would hate to think a perfectly good Foveon sensor and all those beautiful colors it renders are just going to waste sitting in a car and not being used.

I forgot to mention I found your post well timed. I recently purchased a Sigma 30mm f/2.8 lens for my NEX gear (yes, I am a disloyal photog who owns cameras from just about every brand) and I love that new lens. I've been debating the purchase of the DP2s for about a year and finally pulled the trigger over the weekend when I found a new DP2s for $500 since it uses a similar Sigma lens and the price was right.

I'm sure the DP2s can't deliver the lens flexibility of my interchangeable lens cameras and it won't have the focus speed of my E-P3 or my DSLRs but I'm looking forward to taking advantage of those Foveon colors.

I'm heading to China for business in about a month so I'm hoping to find some colorful things to photograph with the DP2s.

Well...I admit to not using it as much as I should - you see the problem is, my Contax G1 also sits in my car......

Bah ... 35mm film is for sissies. ;)

In reality I see your dilemma. The G1 is a great camera. That said, I gave up using all my 35mm and medium format film gear years ago. I still have a few film cameras in my office but they pretty much just collect dust and look stylish on a shelf. I'm 100 percent digital and proud of it.

Ya can't compare the DP series to interchangeable lens cameras. Note: It's a quirky & slow camera but the Foveon output allows me to deal with these issues....

    A couple more teasers....

Oh my these images are really nice. The colors seem to pop! How big is the sensor compared to M43?

Edit: Googled and found out it's an APC sized sensor. Seems like a nifty little camera.

2 the things (IMHO) that makes the sensor unique is that it a) Somewhat emulates film emulsion color layers and b) the pixel density which contribute to what "some" say gives Foveon images a 3D-like look

    YMMV though
