A few weeks ago I started a thread about my new(ish) project where I'm photographing talented people and my first model was a(n) (ex-)ballerina. My second model - Katra Solopuro - is a true multitalent but we focused on aerial acrobatics (aerial silks to be precise) and light painting with Ignis Pixel pois. We did agree on doing other photo shoots later too so looking forward to those (especially the fire arts ones)...

Despite dragging lots of gear with me I only used:
– Olympus E-M5III
– Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 and Sigma DC DN 56mm f/1.4 lenses
– 2x Godox AD200 studio flash and Godox TT685o speedflash
– light modifiers: 2x umbrella, 2x stripbox and one MagSphere (on the TT685o flash).

The Sigma was on my camera for only a minute or two when I took the face shots. Otherwise it was all 12-40mm f/2.8. And since we were shooting at Katra's own studio and the studio had that beautiful pink(?) wall I didn't even have to use any backdrops. These would have looked much duller with a white or black background - at least IMO.

Photos? OK, here we go again. :)

As I'm terrible at taking portraits with tight composition and had a model who would look gorgeous even if the photo was taken by a blind monkey who couldn't operate a camera, I thought we'd grab a few quick normal portraits as well. So here's two of them too. Far from perfect and could have framed 'em even tighter but gotta start from somewhere...

And then a few light painting photos... I think all of these were taken with the Live Composite feature and manually triggered the flash just before pushing the shutter to end the exposure. I need to work on the technique since there were some ghosting / motion blur.

And as always, any c&c is welcome so I can improve my work. Ideas on how to improve my light painting photos would be extremely appreciated. :)
