My GX1 strap (and why it's no good for EM5)

    Hi.

I have tried many varieties of neck straps from stock neck straps to black rapid and carry speed (attaching to the tripod mount) to op/tech neoprene hand straps etc...

The best solution I found for the GX1 is one of those generic eBay neoprene straps.

But I don't wear it as a neck strap - I rather use it as a sling strap.

See attached photos (Low-Res, I know. No one around = lazy timer + cropped job ) .

This solution works very well when attaching the Polaroid PL-108AF flash (essentially identical to the Metz 24 and other similar knockoffs) as can be seen in the photo.

It is however a terrible solution when attaching the EM5 for 2 reasons:

    1. The EM5 isn't flush flat at the back like the GX1 - the viewfinder hump sticks out and pokes me in the back. Not comfortable at all.

    2. I have to use the dangling lugs (I removed them because I hate them).

I added a side by side of the GX1 / EM5 (with partial grip).
It easily seen that the size difference is much larger then you might have thought. That hump can be a real annoyance...

    Hope this information is useful!
    It's also very cheap (~2$).

    Oops.

I accidentally attached some photos irrelevant to this post.
