Well, after pushing my GF1 to its limit, I decided on the GH3 for an upgrade. Just unboxed it.
Got a great deal on it from Mathers in Bolton. £929 :2thumbs:

Nice one. I probably buy one used next year. For now I just settle with a chepo gh1.

This shows exactly what I thought when I held the GH3: the camera is not big at all. Contrary to what a lot of reviewers are exaggerating. It's like a GF1 with a hump and a big grip.

Thanks for posting and good luck with 'The Machine'.

    Wow...stunning upgrade !
    Nice one mate.

Amazing stills quality no doubt but I'm guessing we may see some more travel videos in the future ?

Yes ! I want to get an underwater housing for this.

Re. the size, yes I've seen all the comments about it being too big. Its not. You really have to see and hold one to feel how well it is designed for the human hand. A lot of thought has gone into it. In some pics I know they look HUUUUGE but from my pic above you can see how it compares to the GF1.
I love the controls and the feel of the GF1 but the GX1 for me, although superior in image quality didn't move me to buy one. It felt like a step back from the Gf1 with its controls.
This feels like a worthy successor to my old friend.

Still getting to grips with it. Here's a couple of shots. Loving it so far. Its very tactile. I just wanna pick it up all the time.

Nice! I'm shooting a G5 now and it doesn't look much bigger than that either, if at all. I also have an OM-D E-M5 so I have some of the best of Panasonic and Olympus -- but you just bought a "flagship"!

Congrats! I like your work a lot, hopefully some of the new features will allow you a few more creative options

I'm with you guys on the size, it's clearly bigger than other m4/3 cameras but it's certainly not huge. I've posted these elsewhere on the forum but in case anyone wondering about the GH3's relative size hasn't seen them (GH3, G5, GX1):

nice nice. I'm hoping to pick up a GH-3 soon to compliment my GF-1. GF-1 is great, but not without limitations. Was thinking I should get a GX-1 but I think the GH-3 is a better alternative.

Yes I was in the same boat. I'd really pushed my GF1 to its limit. If you love your GF1 you'll love the GH3.

The GH3 feels smaller than it looks - I tried one out recently and it is not much different to the G1/GH2 in the hand. Actually quite comfortable to hold.

Question to hypnomatt or any other GH3 user: how do you find the metering/exposure ? It seemed to underexpose a lot when I tried it.

Mine seems just fine with metering and exposure.
