I recently bought an Olympus E-PM1 and downloaded the Nik software.
This is the first time I've had this kind of camera and I'm still quite the newbie.

Just figured I'd share my fist couple of pictures that I decided were decent enough to post. I'm shooting in RAW.

I've been enjoying trying different modes in the Camera and playing around with aperture and focal distance, even though I'm not 100% sure I understand the technical part yet.

I must say that the Nik software is really cool too, you can do some amazing effects but I feel that it almost goes too far, if I use it, it's usually just for some minor sharpening. :)

Nice shots. My fave is the "free coffee". As much as they're sometimes disparaged around here, the kit zooms are very capable lenses.

    Keep shooting and sharing!

Well done! I like your composition. The cherry blossoms and pink balloons is awesome! Since you are shooting RAW now, you can expose for the highlights and bring up the shadows (and maybe decrease highlights) to get better dynamic range. The advantage of RAW is that after working with the image in processing, you can have a proper exposure of the people while keeping the full range pinks in the all of the cherry blossoms. It's possible that there is more color to recover in that image, you may want to try and reprocess, but the pink tunnel of blossoms and pink balloons is fantastic! Good eye!

Thanks for the encouragement, it helps to know that I am starting to learn. :)

I'll keep posting to this thread when I take another interesting picture.

We had an unexpected rain pour and bright sunlight at the same time, I figured this was a great time to play with some hard light.
