    Hi All,

After my colleague used my E-PL2 for some time, it no longer takes still photos (he used its video functions).

The LCD still displays previous photos, and still displays the live view. But if I press the shutter button, I hear the shutter sound, and the screen tries to display something but immediately turns black, and the camera freezes. I can turn the power off and then on, but the new photo was not taken.

See the following photo of how the LCD is displaying:

    6893337059_c2a7fe671c_b.

Notice the video symbol circled in red. I suspect that the camera is somehow stuck in video mode.

So I suspect if I can do a reset back to factory default, the camera will be OK again.

So my question is: how do I reset it to factory default?

    Thanks in advance!

LOL, I still hope it can be revived to take more still photos, especially when the video part still works.

Might be a really stupid assumption, but what is the position of the mode dial?

Or... take out the battery and leave it out for long enough, but I don't remember how long it takes to work.

I tried different modes, and none of the still photo mode works.

Ironically, in video mode (with the dial pointed at the video camera), it does take a photo and saves to the card. The camera still freezes though. But after turning off and on, it can display the photo.

Strange, the reset menu item is disabled.

I am taking the battery out now.

That's exactly what mine did... needed a new shutter. Check the error or "D" code.

The card might be full. Try putting in a new card and see if that helps.

Sounds like it will need a trip back to Olympus.

The card was not full, and I have tried a different card as well.

My EPL2 displays that all the time too - just how much estimated time you have for video from that spot, and the number below is how much image capacity estimated.

Is it possible to get rid of that symbol?

Thanks for the reply. Well, if it is not the problem, it is OK to leave it there.
