My sweet Maybellene was rather dirty, we went to a car wash just to get some of the dust off, my son was cleaning it, I pulled out one of my E-PL1's with the 45mm, and got a shot off.. It was 2:30 in the morning...

    wmay-1.

Then drove out to the spot of seclusion, in Mariposa, and snapped some
pitch darkness images, these were all with the 20mm f/1.7.

    wmay-2.

    wmay-5.

This last one, shot around 4:30, the sun started to iluminate the sky, and changed its color...

    wmay-4.

Lots of Coyote's were howling, so we split the scene...

    Really cool!

For the pitch black shots, how is the car illuminated? Is it only the moon and the stars?

How do you focus in that situation?

the shots are long exposure, this time 20 seconds, the car is lit by me, walking between the car and camera hiting the car with a small handheld led torch.

I have the camera on a small gorilla pod, I use a spotlight to light the headlights or a wheel, I then manual focus on that lit area.

I use anti shock 12 second timer, I hit the shutter button and get ready with the led torch for the camera to start exposing, when it does, I paint with light.

Amazing as usual. When the heck do you sleep? Always dragging your cars around at all hours of the night!

    Thank you.

She has dual 50 trims, she is a auto, and boost is only set at 6psi, so I can run pump gas, and I only get crappy 91 octane.

Maybellene made 571hp, and went 11.44@122mph at a DA of 6500ft.

Are you wearing black and taking care not to spill light on yourself? How do you set white balance?

Beautiful shots. I once knew a guy who employed this technique for architecture interiors.

I do wear dark clothing, and try and not walk in front of the light, I have my arm extended and and up high with my hand angled downward, aiming the light at the car, if you slightly angle towards the camera you will get a light trail, I use auto white balance.

Awesome shots! I really like these kinds of photos. Makes me want to try this once I get my E-PL1. Not sure how well it will work with the Pany 14-45mm kit lens though.
