Shooting by numbers
With the IS in m43 bodies/lenses and their compact size, I find that they are ideally suited to the no flash/no tripod rules in many museums. I don't think that there is a thread dedicated to images taken at museums. I thought that it would be good idea to start one to collect them in one place rather than having them scattered across different threads.
I will start off with some images taken at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco this past weekend. I hope that others will add more and keep the thread going. All images with the E-M10 + O17/1.8 (except #1 which is taken with the O14-150II). Auto ISO with max ISO at 640 and shutter speeds between 1/8 and 1/100s). With more care, I could probably have shot the whole set at ISO 320.
1. Dragon Fortune by Taiwanese artist Hung Yi
2. Nandi (bull) statue from India on the museum's entry level. I have taken pictures of this every time we have been there in the last 10+ years.
3. The current special exhibition is titled Flower Power (celebrating 50 years of the summer of love!). The ancient: "Hundred Flowers" vase from the Qing dynasty ...
4. and the modern: Me and Kaikai and Kiki, 2010, by Takashi Murakami

And some pieces from the museum's permanent collection
5. The collection starts on the 3rd floor
6. With this Ganesh sculpture as the first exhibit
7. The Birdman from Thailand. Wood with remnants of the original lacquer and paint.
8. The Buddha Shakyamuni as an Ascetic (from China) in Nephrite
9. Earthen well and vessel (c. 200AD) from China
10. The museum moved to its current location in the old SF Main Public Library building around 2003. It has always amused me that the grand staircase is named after a sponsor.
