As noted in another thread about forumites, today was the annual ode to old time crazy known in Philly as the Mummers Parade. There are other cities with other great traditions, but I don't think any of 'em are quite like this. The site of massively grown men with a three day stubble, a beer in each hand, very red eyes, etc, stumbling down the street at 10 in the morning in pink and sky blue baby outfits and tutus can be more than a little alarming the first few times you see it. But, hey, its been going on for 111 years or so, so who am I to argue. Here are a handful and a link to a set on Flickr, here:

Mummers Parade 2011 - a set on Flickr

These are just straight documentary photos with no dressing up or pretentions of art. The basic scene is bizzarre enough to stand on its own two feet! Almost all in color because its VERY colorful. And almost all with the ep2 and 14-150 lens. Probably should have taken the 45-200 in retrospect...

These shots are fantastic -- not only from a photojournalism viewpoint but from a technical viewpoint. The story they tell is excellent and they are sharp, saturated, and beautiful. Great job.
