Welcome to Mu-43 post processing challenge #73!

I'm still in a bit of shock at having both my submissions in challenge #72 chosen as co-winners. Thanks again, John. I'm truly honored and appreciative.

As some of you know, I just recently joined the world of Mu-43. For this, and other reasons, I didn't have any images to pick from for this challenge. Well, yesterday(Jan. 27th) the weather was co-operative and I was able to get out for a couple of hours; do some shooting, and get familiar with my equipment.

Brief summary: other than getting used to the feel and placement of the shutter button(which didn't take long), I already like my G6....a lot. The big surprise, however, was the 7.5mm fisheye. It's an excellent lens, especially when cost is taken into account. I paid $199.00 U.S., which makes it an excellent value.

So, it's official - I've got "fishy" fever and must apologize for submitting a second consecutive fisheye image for post processing. However, it's my first time shooting with a fisheye lens. Heck, it's the first time I've shot with a manual lens. But, once the 7.5 was attached to the G6, I just couldn't take it off. I think I'm going to use this lens more than I originally thought.

The photo below was taken with my Lumix G6 and Bower 7.5mm fisheye lens. The image is straight out of the camera with no post processing. The location is the waterfront in Calabash, North Carolina.

I am unable to submit a RAW file, as I only have my iPad Mini with me at present.

The challenge will end Friday, January 31st, 2014 at around 11:00pm EST(New York time).

Here is the JPEG file: http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums...346be742f0a097f41394_zps8c636903.jpg~original

http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w427/mobokeh/fa9bb08823fd346be742f0a097f41394_zps8c636903.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo fa9bb08823fd346be742f0a097f41394_zps8c636903.jpg"/>

The rules:
The challenger will provide any photo that he/she deems worthy of challenging other members to "improve" by way of post processing. It must be their own photo, and taken with m4/3 equipment. "Improve" is a subjective term, and includes many creative ideas, as well as traditional "fixing". The challenger agrees that entrants may make any changes they deem fit to post in their entry.

The winner of the previous challenge gets to post the next challenge and serves as the judge for his/her PP challenge.

For obvious purposes, the judge is disqualified from participating in his/her own PP challenge. Instead, he/she should post a photo to start out the challenge.

*****If the winner fails to post a new challenge within five days, the responsibility passes to the runner-up.*****

At the end of the 72-hours (we don't have to be strict about 72-hours, especially with time differences depending on where you are on the globe), the judge will name a winner, a first runner-up, and a second runner-up.

Entrants:
The challenger's image is posted for the sole purpose of the PP challenge; it is not posted to invite critique or criticism.

Entries shall be limited to 2 per member for each challenge.

Entrants to post a BBCode link to the Large size image of their PP edit(s), preferably 1024px x npx x 1024px, if the original image and/or the PP edit allow for these sizes. Also a click-through to the original sized hosted edit if appropriate (but not a requirement for entry). If you post your entry to a photo-hosting site such as Flickr, Photobucket, or a Gallery, etc., please credit the original photographer to make it clear it is not your photograph; something like "Photo taken by xxxxxx over at Mu-43.com should suffice.

Entrants are strongly encouraged to post the settings and techniques used for their entry, however this is not a requirement for entry.

As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. We may not all agree with the chosen winners, but the judges decision is final without adverse comment from the entrants; the judge is encouraged (but not required) to state what criteria he used to decide on the winner.

To make sure we don't break any Mu-43 rules/regulations, by participating in the PP Challenge you are allowing the judge to re-post your image for the sole purpose of announcing the winners in the thread.

Good luck, everyone!

Dave

2. The link provided leads to Photobucket. When I try to d/l the picture, I only obtain a 881 kB file, way too small to try some good postprocessing.
Can You give us a link to a 10-16 MB file, please?

I'm sorry about this Zeus. I will see what, if anything, I can do. I'm not at my primary residence and, as I noted, only have my iPad Mini with me. The Photobucket app doesn't give many options. If anyone has any suggestions, please pm them to me, and I'll try my best to provide some better files.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Zeus.

I've coordinated with Dave and here's a link to a 3mb jpeg.
I was able to access it by viewing original, saving to desktop, and changing the file extension to .jpeg.
There may be a way to extract a larger file but my link now goes straight to the 3mb image.
Anyway, here it is.

Good luck!

John, I want to publicly thank you for helping me out, by posting this link to the 3mb file of my image. I will continue and see if I can provide an even larger link, however you doing this is greatly appreciated.

Update: It looks like the 3mb file is as good as it's going to get for this challenge. I've tried everything I can think of, including installing and trying some other apps, but haven't had any better luck.

On a positive note, I am impressed with what has been submitted thus far.....especially when taking into account the file size available.

There is a little more than 24 hours left to submit entries.

Thank you, and good luck everyone!

I went with a 50's/60's style holiday theme for both of mine. Both in Aperture trying the Nik suite - first is Auto Enhanced with a vignette applied and the second is a little OTT but is given a work-over as an aging holiday-snap.

Technically less than two hours left, however, I won't be able to go over the entries until tomorrow afternoon and evening. So, if anyone wants to submit an image overnight please feel free to do so.

I will announce the results Sunday.

Thanks, everyone!
