For this month’s contest I thought a good theme would be Nature’s Gifts.

    Rules for Participants:

o This is a fun contest with nothing to be won but bragging rights. Having said that, please read and follow the rules below to make it easier for everyone.

o The contest period is the current month. Entries can be made until approximately midnight on the last day of the month local time. Voting will extend until the third day of the following month. The winner will then be announced and be responsible for posting the new contest. If the new contest is not announced by the 7th of the month, responsibility for posting falls to the second place finisher. Keep it simple and post/vote early so we don't have to obsess over deadlines and time zones.

o Post a maximum of two entries, each in a separate post.

o As the purpose of this contest is to get people out and shooting, photos must be taken in the time-frame of this contest. Please note the date the photo was taken in your post.

o As a m43 community, we advocate the use of m43 cameras. However, since many of us shoot with multiple systems, we allow photos taken with any camera.

o Photos receive one point for each "like" (thumbs up) and two points for each "winner" (medal). The photo with the most points win with the contest. The tie-breaker is the larger number of "winner" votes.

    Procedures for Winners/Contest Hosts:

o As a contest winner, you are responsible for posting/hosting the contest for the next month. This is easy and just requires several steps as outlined below.

o Select the theme for the next month. The theme should be accessible and relevant for everyone. Obscure and difficult themes limit participation. Avoid themes related to specific holidays, seasons, geography, etc. Suggested themes include: B&W, Portrait, OOC jpeg, Close Up, Self Portrait, Transportation, Minimalist, Architecture, Long Exposure, Art Filter, Motion, Specific Focal Length, Liquid, Reflections, Colour, Religious, Calm. Pick one of these or you may pick a theme of your own choosing. Themes may be used multiple times.

o After you select a theme, post a new thread in "Contests and Challenges" section of the forum. The thread title should read "MU-43 Photo Contest for [current month, year] - [selected theme]". Copy and paste these rules and post. Also please add the contest theme that you just won to the list. You may wish to include a sample photo to demonstrate the theme (and this will not count as an entry).

o On the last day of the month, post that entries are closed and voting will be open until the 3rd.

o At the conclusion of voting on the 3rd or shortly after, tally the points and announce the winner and runner-up, being sure to tag them in the post and also sending a PM to the winner.

Either it's an unpopular subject or people are struggling with it???

I would hazard a guess that its the subject title. People are unwilling to enter because perhaps they feel that their interpretation of Natures gifts would't fit the brief.
It's not as straight forward as Clocks/Grass/Nuts & bolts. So personally. Yes I'm struggling with it, more than I would with Nature, or Gift.
But the way I see it is, anything you see in nature you think is beautiful will be ok.
I saw this scene this morning.

The way I look at it there is no brief just different interpretations of the title. I agree with your sentiment that anything anyone feels is special or beautiful would fit the theme. Ducks on a pond or river, birds, lambs in a field, puppies or baby anything's, flowers, spiders webs with the morning dew, really nice natural view, or a more literal interpretation like food you like, playing with leaves in the fall etc. I actually mistakenly thought it was a very open title! Here is a few competitions I found with the same name for reference -

I did not want to go to technical this time as we had minimal mono last time. I could have gone Low key or Chiaroscuro but I thought it best to mix it up.

This is only the second weekend since this has been open. I think most of us don't get a good chance to shoot until the weekend. I think I have one to submit, but I need to PP a little more.

Let me know if this is against any rule. It is meant to be a triptych piece.

Most of the pictures I take could fall under this category, so I am waiting until a bit later in the month to see which are the standouts. I suspect that is true for a lot of people.

FYI You must have edited your photo after linking it. This will cause the Flickr embed to break.

OK, since I see flowers are OK as "Nature's gift" I will play along

    Hi Gnarlydog australia,

Really nice shots especially the first one, but please choose just one picture per post.

From the rules "Post a maximum of two entries, each in a separate post."

    Best regards

    Phil
