July is a month for travel: the Northern hemisphere is in "vacation mode" for the summer. And while most people with mobile phones are interested in hitting the "Instagram famous" location I would like to see off-the-beaten path images, away from crowds.
The theme I propose is "The Road Less Traveled".
Of course it's up to the individual photographer to interpret the title, but please try to not stretch the idea too far (like to cats and portraits o_O )
Here is my take on the theme.

Rules:
1. The image must be taken within the contest month; the date of the photo must be indicated on the post
2. The image must resemble the theme, although a liberal and creative interpretation is encouraged.
3. A maximum of two (2) entries per participant, in separate posts
4. If you shot the image with a micro four thirds camera, include the make and model in your post for an added bonus of three (3) points.

XXX

Copied from the previous month:
As usual, a liberal and creative interpretation of the theme is encouraged!

Rules for Participants:
  • This is a fun contest with nothing to be won but bragging rights. Having said that, please read and follow the rules below to make it easier for everyone.
  • The contest period is the current month. Entries can be made until approximately midnight on the last day of the month local time. Voting will extend until the third day of the following month. The winner will then be announced and be responsible for posting the new contest. If the new contest is not announced by the 7th of the month, responsibility for posting falls to the second place finisher. Keep it simple and post/vote early so we don't have to obsess over deadlines and time zones.
  • Post a maximum of two entries, each in a separate post. (The host may also enter.)
  • As the purpose of this contest is to get people out and shooting, photos must be taken in the contest period. Please note the date the photo was taken in your post.
  • As a m43 community, we advocate the use of m43 cameras. However, since many of us shoot with multiple systems, we allow photos taken with any camera.
  • Photos receive one point for each "like" (thumbs up), "funny" (happy face), "appreciate" (heart icon), or "agree" (green check mark) and two points for each "winner" (medal) or "Wow" (surprised face) clicked on the post. The photo with the most points wins the contest. A tie is resolved by the post with the larger number of "winner" and "wow" votes.

Procedures for Winners/Contest Hosts:
  • As a contest winner, you are responsible for posting/hosting the contest for the next month. This is easy and just requires several steps as outlined below.
  • Select the theme for the next month. The theme should be accessible and relevant for everyone. Obscure and difficult themes limit participation and are thus discouraged. Avoid themes related to specific holidays, seasons, geography, etc. Suggested themes include: B&W, Portrait, OOC jpeg, Close Up, Self Portrait, Transportation, Minimalist, Architecture, Long Exposure, Art Filter, Motion, Specific Focal Length, Shutter Speed, Liquid, Reflections, Colour, Calm. Pick one of these or you may pick a theme of your own choosing. Themes may be used multiple times.
  • After you select a theme, post a new thread in "Contests and Challenges" section of the forum. The thread title should read "MU-43 Monthly Photo Contest for [current month, year] - [selected theme]". Copy and paste these rules and post. Also please add the contest theme that you just won to the list. You may wish to include a sample photo to demonstrate the theme (and this will not count as an entry).
  • On the last day of the month, post that entries are closed and voting will be open until the 3rd.
  • At the conclusion of voting on the 3rd or shortly after, tally the points and announce the winner and runner-up, being sure to tag them in the post and also sending a PM to the winner.
Now, go out and create stunning images with those shiny cameras

.

Just back from attending a scientific meeting in Prague. Had a few times to see the old part of Prague, which was very beautiful. But the river of people in some places was simply overwhelming (and depressing). I found myself seeking the "The Road Less Traveled" streets and alleys as much as possible. It was amazing how much quieter and peaceful the smaller alleys and streets can be. My contribution below is just 7 minute walk from where it was probably the worst (Charles Bridge). I also present an "anti Road Less Traveled" contribution taken after having lunch on a quiet street on same day (for fun).

I am headed to Europe (Austria) on Saturday and my fear is indeed what your picture shows: crowds beyond belief :(
I am afraid that the concept of "road less travelled" is rather elusive there, but technically your first image fits my view: it is indeed relatively less travelled than the bridge one

Yesterday was my last chance to find a "road less traveled" before I head to Europe; maybe my last opportunity for an image suitable for this challenge.
Sunday afternoon ride (07JUL) with sun low on the horizon (it's winter here Downunder) and of course taken with Micro 4/3.

What Is Real Anyway?
Taken on July 6, 2019. I had driven 60 miles on dirt roads at this point, and I only saw 2 vehicles and on a holiday weekend.
The snow cover peaks barely visible on the middle left horizon are in and around Great Basin National Park.

How do you carry your camera gear when on your motorcycle? Any issues with dust?

I usually ride with a small backpack since I am out for 4-6 hours at least and I want to stay hydrated (water bladder in pack). There is plenty of room for a small Micro 4/3 camera with a compact lens. On occasions I take several lenses with me, when with friends planning a photoshoot.
Alternatively I could carry them on the back seat, in a padded bag. If there is threat of rain or serious dust then the camera goes inside a dry bag.

Good idea on the dry bag. I just got a GX9 to replace my GX7 but I think I'll hold onto the GX7 and relegate it to dirt bike duty.

Driving at the end of a long 12 hour workday with another hour to go before reaching my hotel; the sunset along the Mississippi river road made me glad so few others were on the road as I pullled aside to gather some of the light.

First image is the Olympus BCL on the EM1.2 taken July 10th.

A recently-graded seldom-used track across the valley from my home, providing access to farmers' paddocks. Shot on 8 July with OMD EM10 MKII and Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95; converted to black and white with Snapseed app.

We've just welcomed another Gen 1 Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun or Montero in other markets) into our family, and this was its first little drive in nearby forest reserve - a good way to end a dreary winter day.

Taken on 14 July with Fujifilm X30, edited with Snapseed app.
