The rainy season started last week here in Oregon, but the forecast was "sunny" for Wednesday. Took the day off to take advantage of a rare nice day and we decided to visit Mt St Helens. We haven't been there in a year, but every time we go, we always have a great time and the scenery is always beautiful. For us, the fastest way is straight up North on I5 and turn NE at some point. This time however I wanted to take a different route, so I looked on google the night before. Sure enough there is 1 more way to take. Go east on 14 and go up north.

We use a Garmin GPS and we are very happy with the unit, but something interesting happened. When we were getting close to where we were supposed to turn North, I turned on the GPS (until that point it was an easy drive) and it wanted us to back track to I5. No way! So I tried WAZE on my Ipone - No go! Couldn't find "destination" - No problem! Lets just use "Mapquest" that will do it!? Well, it pulled up Mt. St. Helens and every time I pushed "Start" the App would turn itself off. At this point I realized that we were not meant to visit Mt St Helens. So we kept driving and a while later we saw the sign towards Mt Adams. So that became out new destination.

I took 111 pictures, 2 were deleted later and the rest we kept like we always do - just for us to remember the trip by.

This time I asked my wife to choose 10 or so pictures, that I should post from this trip. She picked 21 and told me to post them

12-50 and 14-140 (mostly) were used on our OMD.

Right before we turned off from Rt 14 on the Washington side - the Columbia River Gorge.

As you can see we didn't make it to Mt Adams - the road was closed down at some point due to fires - will open back up next year.

We really loved living out there (Ft. Lewis) back in the early 80s.

beautiful shot. Remind me of New Zealand. Scenery like these make me want
to retire and just travel and photograph.

    Thank you Bob very much!

Evidently, I didn't flip the paper and the first 6 pictures were not posted

Thread is updated - I was wondering why she didn't choose some of the earlier pictures.

Thank you all very much for your kind replies.

Just out of curiosity, what's your color secret? Polarizer, increased in post, or just phenomenal light? Also I loved the lil' mountain cloud too!

    Hi! Thank you so much!

I always shoot raw but haven't looked into polarizers or ND filters yet. Pretty new to photography. I am on a Dell laptop and I adjust the usual stuff in LR4 to my linking, which I am sure many think that they are overcooked based on how these same pictures look on my wife's new I mac.

The lighting was very good on Wednesday though, (the air also seemed very clear, which is unusual around here) seemed to be mostly behind us.

I can post a screen shot or what ever it is called of the settings in LR (I've seen someone posted it once) if you tell me how to do it.
