My first posting on the forum, and I thought I would introduce myself with some images taken with my GH2 and 14-140mm lens at a recent rally in the north east of England.

Thanks Dave, glad you like them. The motorsport season in my part of the world is just getting going again, so hopefully I'll also be able to get out a bit more over the coming months.

It will be a couple more months before I can get any good motorsport photography in... I can't wait! Great photos, and a favorite subject of mine. Thanks for starting this thread, I hope it fills with lots of great motorsport shots.

Great shots! Love to see those Escorts and Cortinas still competing at over 40 years of age.

That Hillman Avenger in the top photo was built by the Rootes Group in the early 1970s. It was later sold by Chrysler Europe as the Talbot Avenger. Here in the colonies the car was sold as the Plymouth Cricket. I love rallying. I even drive a Subaru Impreza hatch.

    Great shots.

I'm curious how you handled focus? AF, or pre-focus manually, or....?

    Thanks/

I didn't use AF-C as it simply isn't up to it. I either pre-focused on a point, or I used AF-S. As long as you pick your spot so the rate of change of the focal plane isn't too great and give yourself some DoF leeway with your aperture, both work well.

    Cheers,

    Simon.
