Hi
Was planning to get to the Silverstone MotoGP last year but the trip never happened due to constraints upon my time
To ensure I went this time I bought Grandstand Tickets In Advance !
Was in front row of the Grandstand at Beckett's on the Day of The Race on the best day of the week for weather with a fine view of several corners and straights (straightaways)
Took almost all photos on Qualifying Day (Saturday) and very few on race Day itself as I wanted to make the most of watching the event
Hadn't been to MotoGP for a few years and never with a good camera and lens
Lots of trial and error and experimentation involved in trying to get good photos of machines travelling so fast with far more failures than successes - not helped by the well known limitations on viewing positions and high fencing surrounding the track

Here's one to start - Pedrosa panned at high speed cropped from EM10 and Panasonic 100- 300
(I am a huge admirer and supporter of 'the boy' as I affectionately call him - Marc Marquez - an absolute genius on these things - take a look at his Wikepedia page to see how many records he has already broken at the age of 21 - he has had 10 pole positions this year from 12 starts and 11 wins from those 12 races !!!)

and another of 'the boy' Marquez himself:-

Thanks Biro
The relative speed of the bikes in the Moto2 photos was lower and my vantage point was better and closer
Most of the other shots were at greater distance and higher speed so focusing was more difficult

Nice pics. I wondered how well that lens would do for action shots. I took my 35-100 Panny to a AMA Superbike event and it did great while i was working next to to pits but I needed more reach anywhere else.

Hi
I was using 300mm nearly all of the time - only reducing to 200mm on very few occasions
Bearing in mind that all of the shots here were heavily cropped - i could not have acheived satisfactory results with a shorter reach
It is a good lens for such events and very manageable with the Em10 fitted with the ECG1 grip

Great use of that lens, I gather it's pretty tricky to get nice shots of fast moving objects from it.

In your photostream you'll notice a share icon in the bottom right corner (an arrow), click it, select "BBcode" and pick your size. Copy the code it generates into your post.
