Just returned from another week in the Mammoth Mtn area of the Eastern Sierra Mtn's. This is such a special place incorporating the highest point in the continental US (Mt Whitney) and the lowest point (Death Valley). One side of the drive up is volcanic table land very desert like and the other side is the Sierra Mtn's. Here's some pics I took during the week there...C&C welcomed and appreciated.

The Eastern Sierra is my favorite place to visit year round. You did a good job of capturing its beauty. I like the Alabama Hills photo the most of all these. Were you able to get sunset or sunrise during your visit?

Yes! got some sunset and sunrise pics but not in Alabama Hills. Went through there on way home from Mammoth mid-day. If you'd like to see more of the pics they're on my Flickr account..just click the link under my signature. It is a very special place and, like you we try to get up there as much as possible. Have another trip planned for Sept to get some of the Fall color.

A wonderful set of pictures. My favorite is the Horseshoe lake--excellent composition and the use of black and white versus color makes it a powerful image.

I like to spend a week at the Reverse Creek Lodge at June Lake--if the year is good, a week in the spring and a week in the fall to catch the aspen changing colors. So your photography brings back fond memories of this area.

Thanks..glad they bring back good memories..it is such a special place. Living here in LA and being able to hop in the car drive about 5 hours and be in the Sierra's is such a privilege I love the entire trip..from the Mojave to the Eastern front...one side of 395..mtn's and the other desert and more mtn's. Some of the most unique and wondrous landscapes anywhere!
