Took a bunch more shots of my baby hummingbirds, and even caught a picture of them trying to fly for the first time. The one actually hovered for a moment! I don't think it'll be long before they start building secondary nests for themselves. :)  I'm pretty sure these are all with the FD 135mm f/2.

    Scouting around:

    Testing the wings:

    First flight!

Not content to watch his or her sibling grab the glory, the other baby tries it out:

    Relaxing after exhausting test flights:

Thanks for those, fantastic images of something I will never see, a bird family that just seem too delicate to be true.

Just a fantastic series. Thanks so much for sharing. Amin -- it's worth putting these posts together on a front page post, IMO :)

Very nice set of images. I see hummingbirds every once in a while here, but have never seen a nest or babies/chicks (?).
    Thanks for sharing.

What do you post on that site? My corporate Internet policy is blocking the images.

I will take a look tonight when I get home.

What beautiful photos of something so rare to see. Thank you for sharing them with the rest of us. It looks like they'll be leaving the nest soon, I hope you'll continue to post photos of their progress.

Really amazing and well done. I do not ever recall seeing hummingbirds in nests. Beautiful!
