Cropped a bunch. Just a single shot, no stacking. Handheld with Oly 75-300 mm II.

Actually, anybody have a suggested workflow for stacking and any benefits for resolution? Like HHHR but all in post? Don't think a moon shot actually needs stacking for noise reduction...

I couldn't resist taking a picture of this orange moon that was visible low on the horizon in London yesterday.

Here are some images from Kona, Hawaii as the full moon was setting this morning.

At this point the moon was barely visible as the early morning light grew brighter.

Clearer skies this morning convinced me to try and get another shot of the moon with the 100-400 with the tc 1.4 attached. Eventually I will try this with a tripod but it doesn't seem too bad for handheld shots.

Nice capture, looks pretty sharp and well focused. That is impressive for a handheld shot with that long lens. I'm curious what focusing method you use for moon shots like this? I'm guessing you are using autofocus on the edge of the moon, and recentering since this is handheld and it would be tricky to manual focus while hand holding this somewhat heavy lens. I've been using the same lens on a tripod for moon shots and trying various ways to focus without finding a really good approach yet.

Thank you. Yes, I am using auto focus with the center cross pattern on my em5iii. I use spot metering and vary my aim from the brighter areas to the gray terrain taking multiple shots. Every once in awhile I get lucky when the focus and exposure sing from the same songbook. I tried alot of shots early on using higher ISO settings to help boost shutter speeds. Then I found out that using center spot metering the shutter speeds were well within handhold land using an ISO of 200, which dramatically reduced the noise. I consider it all a work in progress and I'm going to try the tripod soon, perhaps at crescent stage.
