I little too much detail washed out from the light, but I really like it. Shows a lot of wisdom and caring in those eyes.

    Nice and sharp!

It's as perfect as it gets. Her placement in the frame is right on. Nice tension but the left eye is almost anchored dead center. A very effective device mastered by Avedon.
    The tones are nice.....
Be glad ya have a Mom to do portraits of.
    Not everyone does.
Ya did good......... Relax... Make more photos...

I'd love to sit down and talk to her, find out her story. I feel patience in her eyes.

You may have inspired to photograph my grandmother!

I retract that. I am viewing this on a different monitor, and it looks much better. Probably need to adjust my laptop contrast/brightness.

Thanks all for the kind remarks, yes, she has loads of patience. : )

I was wondering what folks thought of the crop as well?

Beautiful shot. I didn't even notice the crop until you mentioned it - the focus on the key parts of her face and hair is just so effective. Now that you mention it, I'm not sure if seeing the bottom of her chin and/or top of her hair would make it better, worse, or neither. It couldn't make it much better though...

Wish I'd been more into photography when my folks were old - I have some decent shots of them from when I was about 20-25, but they lived another 20-25 years after that, and I only have a few decent shots that my brother took. Oh well. Be glad you got this - its already great and you'll really cherish it in years to come.
