Mode 2 Movie Shutter Mode - E-M5 Mark II

On my E-M5ii I have two options for Movie shutter release:

Mode 1: use record button
Mode 2: use shutter release button

I’d prefer to use Mode 2 but it introduces a strange AF behaviour. In Mode 1 a half-press of the shutter release activates AF, and then I hit the record button to start shooting. In Mode 2 I can’t see a way to AF. A half press of the shutter release does nothing, pressing Fn1 (which is assigned to AF-On for photos) does nothing and pressing the record button does nothing. Am I doing something wrong? How do you activate AF when you’ve set the movie release button to be the Shutter release?

I’ve tried a Panasonic 25/1.4 and Sigma 16/1.4 and both lenses exhibited the same behaviour.

If you have autofocus set in the movie settings it doesn't matter as it will focus when you start recording.

Em5II - no autofocus in video with newest firmware?

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to autofocus during video. It was available in previous firmware versions though.

Thank you! I’ve had this camera before and definitely had autofocus, I thought I was going mad!

It looks like the latest firmware has fixed this bug
