Hmm.

I recently picked up an X700 for virtually nothing with a 35-70mm Macro. I should probably research the rokkor universe (I know bugger all about Minolta lenses outside the CLE range) and see if i should buy a lens or two.

I have both and they are both good, but if I had to live with just one, the 50mm one is better, imho.

I have Fotodiox adapters for Minolta MD and A and Pentax K. They all work flawlessly and can be had for about $20 on the evil Amazon.

Fotodiox and K&F Concept seem to be the best made of the adapters, IMO. Gobe appear to be very similar.

Hi Dave, any of the 50/1.4's have a good reputation.
There are minor improvements in the lens coatings in later models, but many prefer the solid metal builds (including metal focusing rings) of the earlier ones.
(later ones are still metal bodies, but rubber rings)

Note there are sample images linked for most of the lenses.

I use a cheap Fotga MD-MU43 adapter, ~$20 online.
The Fotga, Fotasy, and Rainbow adapters are all pretty similar and work perfectly fine.
Kipon and K&F are higher end.

I also sometimes use a focal reducer (aka 'Speed Booster' (TM)).
