Minolta 50mm f2 lens

Discussion in 'Adapted Lenses' started by dbuckle, Jun 1, 2011.

  1. I stopped at the thrift store on my way home and found a Minolta 50mm f2 lens in excellent condition for $2. I don't have an adapter for Minolta or a Min. film camera but $2. Had to buy it.

Don't buy an adapter. If you do, you'll want more Minolta lenses. Been there, done that.

It is a slippery slope , but minolta made such great lenses so you will fall in love with them especially for the price you can get them. By the way congrats for the bargain, what i suggest is try them as long as it not expensive and or your budget is ok with it. It is the best way to learn about lenses , the different rendering that a Zeiss can have over a minolta or a cosina. The most important you will select your best kit which will suit your needs, it doesn't have to match someone else's as you know taste and colors can be quite different :D . As an example I love cosina lenses , which give a very bright contrasty rendering it is good but maybe you want to take a pale picture to accentuate the sadness of a portrait then this lens is not appropriate.

All in all the best way is to try.

    To conclude get the adapter.

Go ahead spend the $25 dollars and try the lens out. I did and it's a keeper. I have a 50mm f1.4 and f2. For $2 dollars you made a great buy.
