I've have been using Minolta MD Rokkor lenses for quite a few years. And have collected a few - 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 50mm 3.5 macro, 135mm 2.8 and 35mm to 70mm zoom.
Here's a pic using the 50mm 1.4 with speed booster.

I love the look of this lens. I found a pristine Minolta 1.7 ($4) at Goodwill but it is a AF Alpha mount--Dyxum. I able to find an adapter to focus it manually on my G7. I would much prefer to have the Rokkor MD though, and wonder what the similarities are between the two lenses as far as the "look".

I honestly do not know, but there are so many of the Rokkor MC/MD 50mm out there, they are rather affordable. I am guessing $40 will get you a pristine one. If memory serves, the MD ones are later and should be slightly better optically. I have several Rokkor lenses, the 28mm 2.8 Celtic, 45mm 2, 50mm 1.7, 58mm 1.4, 135mm 2.8 and 200mm 3.5 - I find that I use the 50mm the most and the 135 2nd most. They are all good (well, my Celtic is not great), but my copy of the 50 is very good and I have bonded with it over any other manual lens I have with the possible exception of the Kodak 63mm.
