Hmmm, your last picture has this kind of grid in the background. Is it supposed to be like that?

Edit: the grid is everywhere, even in the white part on the bottom...

i think it caused by acdsee when I resized the pictures from 1068 to 1024

I must say I'm curious about the bokeh in this shot - I would consider it rather ugly and harsh personnally ? is it just me ?

this lens is just amazing!

I think that setting f/1.4 for this lens makes the image too soft and blurry with pale colors, even at the focus point, . I am not sure if this is only in my copy or this is normal for this entire series (2nd generation, MD-Rokkor, no "-X" in lens name). Anyway, I'm still using this aperture for high ISO B&W photos.

f/1.4 ISO1000 1/25s


Reducing the aperture to f/2 makes this lens surprisingly sharp with good colors - I really like it at this settings .

Finally got my Minolta MD -> MFT adapter today so I put the MD Rokkor 50/1.4 on the GH2. I wrote a review about it on this site and here is a grab shot of our dog.

What's a good price for this lens?

I paid € 40 for my almost pristine sample on eBay which is a steal, from a seller who didn't advertise too well and only offered bank transfer as payment option. Normal prices seem to be between € 50 and € 100.

I love this lens also. My one is an older one with a 55mm filter thread and orange type Rokkor-X.
About the image, I am trying something new (freelensing) that simulate the effect of tilt and shift lens.

I'm assuming that, with the 50mm prime and the 2x crop factor, that this works out to be a 100mm prime on the m4/3rds bodies. Is that correct?

If so, a 100mm 1:1.4 prime might just be one of the coolest portrait lenses ever!

Also, how close will this lens focus?

50mm focal length indeed works as a short telephoto on a µ4/3 body, indeed ideally suited for e.g. portraits. Nitpicking, a 50mm lens remains a 50mm lens, irrespective of the camera it's mounted on. The angle-of-view of a 50mm on a µ4/3 camera is equivalent to that of a 100mm lens on a 35mm film camera.

Also, how close will this lens focus?

Closest focussing distance is 0.45m.
