Got this one in the mail today. The weather was nice enough so that I could still do some test shots. I won't write a review on this one, it'll only send eBay prices through the roof.

Very nice background rendition. I think I'd have put the focus point here:

To everyone who posts an image, please tell us whether you used the MD Rokkor, the MD Rokkor-X, or the "plain MD" (non-Rokkor). The first two used a 55mm filter; the third, 49mm.

Also, did you handhold the camera and lens? Or did you use a chestpod? A monopod? A tripod?

I recently bought the plain MD 100/2.5 on eBay for U.S. $201 shipped. It's beautiful and well-made. So far, I've taken only some handheld test shots in my basement.

Here are the test images I shot with my Minolta 100/2.5 MD III ("plain MD"). I like the results from all three of my 100s: The Minolta 100/2.5, the Konica Hexanon AR 100/2.8, and the Olympus Zuiko Auto-T 100/3.5 for Pen F. The Minolta "may" have the best center sharpness, but only by a hair. The Konica has the best edge sharpness and microcontrast. The Olympus is the smallest and is probably 90 to 98 percent as good as the Konica in all respects. In my hands, each gives sharper crops than the equivalent view captured by my Hexanon 135/3.2 and 135/2.5. I've just sold the Minolta to KEH. I'm keeping the Konica and the Olympus for now; I'll retest them when I get a more modern, MF-friendly body. Until then, they're both resigned to my closet, replaced by my Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 40-150 f/3.5-4.5.

All shots were taken on my Panasonic Lumix G3, mounted on a tripod, with a 2-second delay. ISO 160.
