Got out to the local art museum to do some shooting. Spent some time trying to work on black and white conversion. It still feels very hit or miss for me. Any comments or feedback are always welcome.

    Thanks,
    Zach

This is a really cool sculpture - the veil and all are stone.

Glad to see your work again. What a wonderful set. What lenses did you use? OMD?

Great pictures. I am always amazed at the number of pictures I see taken of artwork in an art museum. In my local art museum if you are caught photographing the artwork you are dragged out back and soundly beaten. I don't know why. But a good artwork photo comes with a pricetag here.

    Hey thanks!

I did use an OMD - new to me, only have had it about a month. Transition from GH2 has been a bit challenging but I do like the improved sensor and IBIS. I miss a lot of the direct control and find the OMD overly complicated to manage (and I'm a gadget geek at heart). I also find that although the focus is fast, it's way more hit or miss than the GH2. I've had the OMD go as far as identifying a face and then proceed to lock focus on the background in the box it drew around the face - how is that possible if it recognized the face?? That seems like a bug to me.

I took everything with the PL25 or P7-14. The PL25 is my go to lens, and I recently acquired the 7-14 so I was dying to try it out.

Yeah, I've had the same experience. In my limited experience, my hypothesis is modern art museum - no photos, classical art museum - photos allowed. Probably has to do with the modern museums hosting work by artists that are still producing and the classical stuff being way out of copyright or anyone caring. Just my guess. This museum allows it, but does state for special exhibits it's generally prohibited by the artists or owner of the collection (those exhibits usually cost $$s as well). Our local modern art museum, the Walker doesn't allow it.
