Mini-pod for table top snapshots

Here's a funny little doodad I stumbled onto and included in a recent B&H order. Attached to the tripod socket (and includes another for straps, tripods, etc) and serves as a mini-tripod for taking table or desktop snapshots. I can actually see getting a fair amount of use out of this little guy when my wife and I are travelling through Europe this summer. Get pictures of us together without having to hand the camera over to someone who's intentions might not be pure. It will probably live in a drawer 99% of the time, but I see it having its uses. I'm not the kind of guy who carries or uses a tripod, but this little guy could earn a place in the bag. It's made by Manfrotto and overpriced at $25, but that's a few cups of coffee anymore, so worth it to me.

Oh, and with the legs in the open position, the battery/card door is fully accessible and can be opened and closed. Really doesn't get in the way of much of anything.

I saw a similar device somewhere and my inner geek cried out, I NEED ONE Of THOSE. It's something that everyone needs.

Or if not everyone needs, that perhaps some might want.

It more than adequately supports all of my lenses with the possible exception of the 45-200, but I wouldn't anticipate using it with that - it's not for serious photos, just snapshots. At least for MY inner geek!
