Now that I have the 12, I'd have to say the Olympus 12, 25 and 60 macro. I could sneaker-zoom the intermediate focal lengths.

Still waiting for a 9 or 10mm prime, though.

7-14 2.8 Pro- 1.7 20mm- 45-200mm 4-5.6 is my current tarnished trinity. Due to budget issues I'm weighing a pro zoom in the 30-200 zone vs a high quality super zoom like the Panny that tops out at 400mm. Unless wills me some big glass I'm not getting top end telephoto prime over 150mm. I'd love that Oly 300mm but size and weight still mean it would spent lots of time at home. I can zoom by moving the camera in mid range so that 20mm is nice. Kit lens is sloppy so it gathers dust. A prime 8 or 9mm pro ultra wide would be nice incentive to leave my boat anchor pro ultra wide zoom at home but right now it is my favorite lens

Panasonic 15/1.7
Olympus 25/1.8
Panasonic 42.5/1.2 Nocticron

All 3 have good image quality and short MFDs (in relation to their FLs), which suits my style of photography.

I'm lucky enough to have two "trinity" outfits:

Zooms: Panasonic trio of 7-14, 12-35 and 35-100. A bit big but ideal when travelling and max flexibility needed
Primes: Olympus trio of 12, 25 and 45. Wonderfully compact and cute. Great with an E-M5 or E-M10. What u43 is all about IMHO. Add a 75 for the lux option!

Holy trinity : is "big bag" citytrip : 9-18mm, 45mm and 45-200mm (that I hardly ever use) ( and a little table tripod Novoflex)

( plain duality suits me more ( one in the pocket, one on the camera) 15mm and 45mm, but that was not the question )

agreed : duality is easy ( or binair 0/1) bit wide, or bit tele ?
for me : GM5 with 15mm and 45 : very small ( poor viewfinder ), hiking
or : Olympus om10 with 9-18 and 60 : ( better viewfinder, more reach, bigger), city

My current three-plus-one: Voigtlander 17.5/0.95, Voigtlander 25/0.95, Panasonic 42.5/1.2, Olympus 75/1.8.

I'd consider dropping one of the Voigtlanders for the Rokinon 7.5/3.5. Probably the 25, since I can usually walk up but can't always walk away?

Well, just purchased the last piece of my personal trinity. It's going to be P14mm f2.5, PL 25mm f1.4 & Sigma 60mm f2.8

The price of the PL 15mm f1.7 keeps sticking to my craw, and it's the last piece I would consider in my 'perfect' trinity, which would be 15mm, 20mm f1.7 or 25mm f1.8 (depending on how tight I want my "normal" option) and Sigma 60mm. No medium telephoto, but I feel that when I want tele I want real tele.

I've whittled my kit down to three lenses I cant give up:

Rokinon 7.5 f3.5 - for work (documenting buildings and spaces)
PL 15 f1.7 - for videos and group/action shots of my 1 and 3 year olds
P 42.5 f1.7 - for photos of kiddos

For my E-PL5: 14-42 II R, 40-150, and 75-300 kit lenses.
For my GM1: 12-32, Pentax Auto 110 f/2.8 20-40mm (actually measured closer to f/2), and Pentax Auto 110 24mm f/2.8
For my S-1: 12-45mm, 42.5-160mm, and Vemar f/2.8 135mm

I now have a right trinity of lenses, native, semi-native, and adapted.

(1) P 12-35/2.8. With the proviso that if it balances on your camera the O 12-40 is slightly the better lens.

(2) 4/3 Oly 40-150 f4-5.6. Never occurred to me to buy a kit telephoto zoom till I saw this in a shop window for £29. Ended up on a brief holiday with it as my only lens and was surprised by how versatile it was. The m43 version looks very similar.

(3) Oly PenF 38/1.8.

Cue rant. If the original PenF is such an iconic half-frame camera that Olympus have successfully digitally repackaged it, why oh why didn't they release an equivalent of the half-frame lens that went with the original? The camera wouldn't have become iconic without it after all.

I've got a Voigtlander BessaR, which has 4 viewfinder settings, 35 50 75 and 90. Natively we have 2 at 35, 3 at 50, 2 at 90 - 4 if you throw in the 42.5s - but nothing at all at 75, the choice they made for the PenF.

I only use μ43 for telephoto these days. I have Sony FF for wide and normal stuff.
